Business as Usual

Hi

Dear clients, viewers and friends

I am relocating my studio to Newcastle, NSW, Australia in a few weeks so although I may be a bit preoccupied with packing and unpacking until end of February it will be business as usual (just a bit sunnier).

Never give up on life

Liz has been working with Wellcome Trust Collection UK to produce a series of 3  illustrations based on stories submitted by visitors to their current exhibition Infinitas Gracias: Mexican miracle paintings

Here is the first - about a couple who struggled to conceive their first baby. It is an incredibly touching privilege to put into pictures some one else’s private affairs. Knowing so little about them means you bring your own experiences to the image-making process, which in turn makes it a very personal piece of work for me too.

Liz is loving making drawings of the rock extraction and tarmac-making processes at  Dene Quarry near Matlock. She has is working with local school children to produce a huge interpretation illustration for the nearby National Stone Centre. They visited the site by coach and got to meet the people who make all that black gunk we make roads with. Did you know that Limestone is very very very old fish poo and bones? Here is a preview of one of her studies.
